Under the Sea/ Fish Inquiry

The students have been working so hard on this display, they have been researching different underwater creatures. I can't believe how beautiful it looks! So proud!! #inquirybasedlearning #iteachk #fdk #ontariofulldaykindergarten #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers #ecesofinstagram #ecesfolloweces

A little preview of our Fish Inquiry. It has evolved to other animals and their habitats. The students were so excited when I told them I would "Publish their work in book". #iteachtoo #iteachk #teachersfollowteachers #teachersofinstagram #ecesofinstagram #ecesfolloweces #inquirybasedlearning #ontariofulldaykindergarten #fulldaykindergarten #ontariofdk

I love to see what happens when you leave the writing open to their own thinking. I'm quite impressed with the long but adorable list of rules. #don'tputthefishinthebathtub #fulldaykindergarten

"Stop! Do not touch the fish. I think the fish is hiding from us. I think the fish will like the name Steve." #fulldaykindergarten

Our fish needs a name! We left this outside our class door for the day. Before I left school I saw many tally marks added. The students will be excited to count the results on Monday. I'm feeling the school community support! #fulldaykindergarten

That tiny fishbowl inspired the class to build an aquarium. More pics to follow!

Bones

I was going to buy the x-ray set from a certain educational company, the prices were a bit ridiculous. Hack: photocopy x-ray images on transparency paper. #fdk #iteachk #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers #ecesfolloweces #ontariofdk #fulldaykindergarten #ecesofinstagram #looseparts

One of the students helped me make this activity. He even labelled his body outline with a prompt: " Can you build my bones?" #coconstruction #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers #ecesfolloweces #ontariofdk #fulldaykindergarten #ecesofinstagram #fdk #iteachk

Great for a bird inquiry or an interest in feathers. I have included pictures of single feathers. It is much more interesting to use real feathers.
